1.  First impressions are crucial and image does count. Make sure you are well groomed, upbeat and that you are having a dialogue not giving a monologue.

2. Ok this one seems obvious, but apparently it's not! Turn your cell phones off. Taking calls or texting in the middlle of a conversation is considered extremely rude.

3. Have good eye contact and smile. Make the person you are speaking to feel as though he/she is the only one in the room. Read social cues ....if you stop to read their body language and facial expressions, it will give you a clue if you are fascinating them or if you need to move on to asking them a question!

4. Walk in with No expectations of finding the one. Relax and have fun with all the participants. It is a party. Have no expectations and you will probably have better luck.

5. Make sure you mingle.  DATING AND FINDING YOUR MATCH IN LIFE IS A NUMBERS GAME!!!  The more you put in the funnel, you are bound to close in on your match.  

6. If you come to the event with a friend or friends, sit apart from them.  People catch on that you are friends and will stay away because they do not want to be compared/judged. 

7.   Consider  chatting with at least one person at the event who you would normally reject..Try to OPEN THE DOOR to someone younger, older, different occupation etc. 

8. The others tried their best to make an impression on you, do not forget to let him/her know how much you enjoyed meeting them. 

9. What to wear? This is always a popular one to ponder. Our research conducted has shown that participants do appreciate somebody who has put some time into their appearance and attire.  Go ahead and take a moment to review your style/grooming.  Men seem to notice hair first on women and the ladies note a guy's attire and personal overall style.

10.  Don't discuss past dates or relationships...too heavy for a first date.  You should be perceived as FUN!

11.  Finally, pop a breath mint and just relax. This is all about having fun too!
